Our skin has several different functions. Not only does it protect us against the external environment, but it also helps regulate our temperature.

At the same time, it’s quite fragile. For instance, it can be affected by acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis. On top of that, it can be damaged by the sun’s rays.

Given that, it’s crucial that you take good care of your skin. For instance, it’s important that you use a moisturizer every day. Don’t just use it whenever you want, though, because the order of skincare products matter.

Not sure what the proper order is? Want to know how to layer skincare products? Then be sure to read the rest of the post!

A Short Guide on How to Layer Skincare Products

Layering your skincare products in the right order will ensure that they’ll penetrate into your skin. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Use a Cleanser

The first thing that you want to do is wash your face. More specifically, you want to use an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser.

That will remove any makeup, grime, or excess oil that’s on your skin.

2. Use a Toner

Next, you’ll want to use a toner—it’ll replenish your skin by removing any dirt or dead skin cells that are left behind after cleansing.

All you have to do is tap it onto your skin. Alternatively, you can saturate a cotton pad with the solution and use it to wipe your face. Avoid anything alcohol-based if you have dry skin.

3. Use a Serum

From there, apply a serum. Basically, they’re products that contain a high concentration of certain ingredients such as vitamin E or C.

Note: Depending on your serum, you may not need to use it every day.

4. Use an Eye Cream

Eye creams are specifically formulated for the delicate skin around the eye. For this reason, they’re often thicker than regular creams. Common ingredients include vitamins C and E, retinol, ceramics, and hyaluronic acid.

While they won’t completely eliminate wrinkles, they can bright and firm up the area.

5. Use a Moisturizer

Finally, you want to soothe your skin by applying a moisturizer. For the best results, choose a product that contains ceramides or glycerine. Alternatively, you can use something natural. For example, moisturizing is one of the uses for ostrich oil.

Assuming that you’re using a cream, all you need is a pea-sized amount. Apply it gently to your face using upward strokes.

Using Skincare Products the Right Way
